When students are introduced to the computer as a tool, their natural curiosity drives their learning. They are more likely to view it as a part of their education and their overall world when it is not only used as a toy and communication device at home. Effectively integrating technology into the learning experience will help all students be prepared for the increased demand for computer skills.
Computer literacy for children is an important beginning, giving kids the best tools for their lives and their future careers.
Computers help children to be in control of their experience, to set their own pace, and to select the level of challenge with which they feel comfortable.
Computers help children to use all of their senses to extract information and can draw their full attention, which often results in a deeper focus and concentration.
Computers enable children to learn through creating, similarly to how they gain hands-on understanding when they build forts, make up stories, and paint.
As they master computers, children build a positive attitude toward technology that will help them with future schoolwork, careers, and other endeavors in their lives.
Introducing the Pathway Academy Computer Lab
This year Pathway Academy revealed a new computer lab, located in the school’s library space! At Pathway, we recognize that in today’s fast-paced world, the ability to effectively leverage technology is essential for the success of both students and schools. Our computer lab helps support our goal of inspiring our students to excel and seek a lifetime of learning. Technology is making our world a truly global community. By teaching our students these skills, we hope to make all subjects more meaningful and truly prepare them for the world in which they will live and work.
